Our History

The Ghanaba African Heritage Centre was established in 2024 in Accra, Ghana, as a tribute to Kofi Ghanaba, born Warren Gamaliel Kpakpo Akwei. Kofi Ghanaba was a pioneering Ghanaian musician and percussionist who profoundly influenced the world of jazz by integrating traditional African rhythms and instruments into his music. His innovative approach paved the way for future generations of African musicians and significantly contributed to the global recognition of African music.

Through our exhibitions and programs, we aim to highlight the cultural richness and diversity of African musical traditions.
